An outdoor kitchen on a Techo-Bloc patio

An outdoor kitchen is only as good as the surface under it, so this project started with the patio. The pavers were laid on a properly excavated and compacted base with the grading worked out first, which is what stops a patio from settling into a birdbath in its third winter.

The kitchen run was then built in, with a stone countertop deep enough to actually work on and bar seating on the far side so whoever is cooking is not cut off from everyone else.

Gas, water and power were roughed in during the hardscape phase rather than chased in afterwards, and the surrounding planting softens the edges of what is otherwise a lot of hard material.
