The brief was simple: the garden was only usable for a few months of the year and only in good weather. A covered structure and a fire feature between them fix both halves of that problem.

The pavilion was framed and roofed to match the house, giving shade in July and shelter in October. The seating sits under cover with the view kept open on the long side.

A short walk away, a fire pit patio gives the garden a second place to gather, so a larger group naturally splits between the two rather than everyone competing for the same seats.
